We love the mattress.

The mattress is great. We are both side sleepers and initially found it a bit hard but through the support from Octave, we are giving it time soften, which is natural for a foam mattress, and it getting more and more comfortable.

Q: Are Novosbeds still made in US or Canada and shipped to Maryland?
I read that they are no longer made and have been replaced by Octave Mattresses.

Q: We have previously purchased Novosbed mattresses and like them a lot. We're looking to purchase two more. For our previous purchases, there was a 2" topper that could be added after purchase to further refine the firmness / softness of the bed. Is that still an available option once a new mattress is purchased?

Q: I am considering the queen firm mattress with a platform bed. Is it required to use a foundation? I ideally do not want to use a foundation. Will this impact the mattress?

Q: How much does a double mattress weigh? Is it suitable for use with adjustable bases other than your own brand?

There is slight weight variability between models with to the Soft being the lightest and the Medium being the heaviest. For a Double, the Novosbed has a weight of 62 lb to 69 lb.

Additionally, the Novosbed can be used with any adjustable base that is not made of wired metal.

Q: Is this mattress able to turn over?

A: Hi, Carol. We recommend rotating our mattresses every 4–6 months, especially if there is a significant weight difference between the people who use the bed.

To rotate a mattress, turn the mattress 180 degrees (making the head of the bed the foot of the bed). Rotating a mattress allows the surface to recover from prolonged body indentations. This will help the longevity of the mattress.

Loved the mattress versatility and ease of setting up the frame. As a woodworker, I would be hard pressed to do better. Good service all round.

The Douglas mattress was flexible enough to fit into a very tight space in our rustic cabin, without compromising comfort.

Q: Can i put the mattress directly on the metal bed frame or do i need a foundation?

If the foundation is absolutely necessary, will it make noises/squeeks over time? Since it is a natural/wood material.

A: Hi Rawan, you will have to pair the metal frame with the Novosbed mattress foundation or a similar wood box spring. Using a foundation that is the correct size, shouldn't cause squeaking or noises.

Q: Will this frame fit on an existing metal frame with head and footboard. I currently have a split king box spring and would like to replace for the new mattress. My current set up uses the steel adjustable frame attached to both head and footboard.

Q: Is the hardware stainless? We live in Kauai on the ocean, so lots of salt and humidity.

A: Hi Judy, The Novosbed Foundation's hardware is not stainless steel. They are standard galvanized or zinc coated. However, the hardware comes in standard sizes, so if you'd like to swap them for your own stainless hardware, you are able to do so!

It's also worth noting that most hardware on consumer products is not stainless steel - including vehicles which see far more harsh weather conditions than a bed frame.
